Glossary of terms
Straightforward explanations of the terms you will meet in this guide.
RTP
Return to player: the theoretical percentage of all money staked that a game pays back over an extremely large number of spins.
Volatility
Describes how often a game pays and how big the wins are. Low-volatility games pay small amounts frequently; high-volatility games pay less often but can pay far more.
Maximum win
The biggest multiplier a game is designed to pay in theory. It only happens in rare, high-variance outcomes and is not what you should expect in normal play.
KYC
Know Your Customer: the identity checks a casino usually asks for before your first withdrawal.
Data Processing License
A general business registration offered by some jurisdictions, Costa Rica among them. It is not the same thing as a real gambling licence.
Multi-brand operator
One company that runs several separate casino brands. Sometimes this is stated openly; sometimes it only comes to light through independent research.
